My Top Ten 2013 Favorite Quotes On Innovation and Design

Wow, it’s hard to believe 2013 has come to a close. Seems like each year is getting shorter and shorter. It’s a sign of the times we live in I guess. There are just too many things competing for our attention and time, and it’s easy to get consumed by it all.

When it comes to the game of innovation and new product development –“ there’s no rest for the wicked.”  But if we don’t take time out of our busy days to smell the roses and create quiet time to reflect and be grateful for all our blessing, we will miss out on the most important thing – life itself.

So in 2014, make it a point to carve out quiet time each day to decompress from all the information and  things that are competing for your time and energy.  And spend more quality time with family and friends each day, because at the end of the day – that’s what life is all about.

To get you on your way in 2014, here are my top 10 quotes on innovation and design that I hope will inspire you to keep innovating while not forgetting to enjoy each moment of the day.

“Good design solves real problems.”

~ Not sure who said this first, but very true

“The real voyage of discovery consist not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.”

“When an idea can’t be articulated simply, crisply, and accessibly, there is usually something wrong with it. When I hear a good idea, it has an effect on my mind and body. Sometimes I fell it in my stomach, other times in my throat, still others on my skin – a kind of instant truth detector test.”

~ Michael Eisner

“If you have no access to the truth of the matter, you can’t authentically say what the truth is.”

~Peter  Palston –  Author of “Not knowing”

“In most people’s vocabularies, design means veneer. It’s interior decorating. It’s the fabric of the curtains or the sofa.  But to me, nothing could be further from the meaning of design. Design is the fundamental soul of a human-made creation that ends up expressing itself in successive outer layers of the product or service.”

~Steve Jobs

“Imagination is more important than knowledge”

~ Albert Einstein

“They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.”

“Every act of creation is first of all an act of destruction.”

~ Picasso

Happy New Year!
