Kevin McGourty is an executive, coach and mentor, leader, musician and wine lover. He brings a thoughtful, integrated approach to bear for his clients, combining his breadth of experience and deep expertise with common sense. He understands how it feels when a business sputters and growth begins to slip and knows what it takes to get it back on track.

As President and CEO of iNPD Center, Inc., Kevin works with his clients to develop, articulate and execute strategies and launch successful new products. While they often intuitively grasp what needs to be done, Kevin helps executives get their plans onto a one-page business plan that clearly defines where they are going, how they will get there and how they will measure success.

Prior to iNPD, Kevin served as Vice President of Product Planning at Varitronic Systems, where he led the creation of a strategic business and product planning process. As a result of his efforts, the business was rejuvenated as sales grew from $36 million to $56 million in less than four years.

Kevin actively volunteers with several organizations including:

• A mentor at Cleantech Open - A business accelerator for environmental tech entrepreneurs.

• Chair of the San Diego’s TechAmerica Strategy, Innovation and Development Roundtable. 

• President of the Southern California Chapter of the Product Development and Management Association.

• Academic Coordinator and Instructor for UCSD Extension’s Innovation and New Product Development Management courses.

 

Kevin has published several works and is the author of “The Innovator’s Playbook: Discovering and Transforming Great Ideas Into Breakthrough New Products.” He has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from California Polytechnic State University--San Luis Obispo and has completed graduate studies in Engineering and Business Management at San Diego State University.
